Fall 2022:
Days at the Museum: Secrets of the World
One of the most important ways that cultural memory is passed on is through a society’s museums, monuments, rites, and other symbols. In this course we will explore the variety of cultural institutions in the St. Louis area and discuss how their presentations, locations, designs and exhibits interpret, educate and preserve the culture of the area and its connection to American culture and global culture as well. For its population, St. Louis has a rich and varied cultural legacy which continues to grow and develop. In our travels we will study the many layers of St. Louis culture, visiting and discussing museums, galleries and public spaces which connect the visitor to the past and the present.
