PHIL 356 - Philosophy of Race

Credits: 3
This course will explore philosophical questions about race, racism, and racial identity. The philosophy of race raises questions about what race means, whether races exist, and how we define race. Most philosophers and theorists deny a biological basis for race, but does this mean that race doesn’t exist? The daily impact of race and racism makes it challenging to deny its existence. So, what is race? Complex issues arise and inevitable ethical-political questions of identity and justice are discussed.
