ADSA 205 - Introduction to Jewelry/Metalsmithing


Credits: 3
In this course, students will focus on creating functional and sculptural  objects and jewelry with an emphasis on design and craftsmanship. Learn to create with copper, brass, and other non-ferrous metals using basic fabrication techniques such as, but not limited to cutting, filing, texturing, soldering and finishing. While using a variety of tools commonly used and specific to working with materials in a metals studio, the student will have the opportunity to broaden their creative skills. This is a problem-solving course with many creative outcomes and applications outside the studio setting.

Students are encouraged to incorporate ideas from their area of study into their metal projects. Some outside class time is required to complete projects.
