FIN 430 - Fed & Financial System


Credits: Three
Prerequisite: ECON-201, ECON-202
This course helps students understand the functions of financial markets and the Fed in the economy. It covers basic concepts pertaining to the financial system and monetary policy. Students will understand the economics of money, the characteristics of various financial markets and instruments, and the functions of banks and similar institutions. Students will learn the basics of central banking in general and the Federal Reserve System in particular. After taking this course, students will understand the workings of the financial system and the goals and limitations of monetary policy; they will have a more informed perspective on the various issues surrounding the financial sector.
