Middle Level Education B.A.

Students who wish to teach grades 5-9 in a middle school enter the middle-level teacher preparation program. Middle-level teacher education students must complete their licensure by having one academic area of concentration of 32-33 credit hours plus a concentration in reading/literacy included in the coursework below. All teacher preparation programs involve extensive experiences in partner schools.

All students wishing to enter the middle-level teacher program will take the following coursework in general education and professional education plus the area of concentration chosen from Language Arts, Mathematics, Science or Social Studies.

General Education requirements:


  • ENGL American Literature 3
  • ENGL World Literature or a multi-cultural course 3
  • Fine Arts Elective (Music) 3
  • Fine Arts Elective (Art) 3
  • HIST American History 3
  • Psychology, Sociology or Anthropology 3
  • Physics or Chemistry with a Lab 3 or 4

Concentrations:


Choose one area of concentration.
