Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Programs (by school)

The undergraduate program in psychology with a minor in rehabilitation services prepares students for a career in human services with a specialty in working with individuals with disability, including those with physical, psychiatric, developmental, visual or hearing, traumatic brain injury and substance abuse disabilities. It also provides the necessary foundation for further graduate study in rehabilitation.

This Maryville undergraduate degree will allow a bridge to the graduate M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling program, therefore offering an opportunity for early access to graduate studies (see the graduate program in Rehabilitation Counseling within the School of Health Professions).

Students deciding to work in human services at the completion of their undergraduate studies will be prepared for employment in a variety of social service and rehabilitation agencies/organizations as well as independent living centers. Students in this field become case managers, allowing them to assist individuals with disability to live as independently as possible within the community and to work in jobs appropriate to their interests and abilities.

For more information regarding this program, contact the Director of the Psychology Program at 314 529 9428 or the Director of Rehabilitation Counseling Program at 314.529.9443.
