The Biochemistry program is rooted in interdisciplinary studies and learning opportunities that integrate Biology and Chemistry. The student who graduates with a biochemistry major will be prepared for graduate programs (M.S. and Ph.D.), medical and health professions programs, and a variety of career paths in the biotechnology sector, including the pharmaceutical sciences, bioanalytical sciences or any field that involves the investigation of biomolecules. Additional career paths include medicine, teaching, research, dentistry, veterinary sciences and agriculture. A minor in biology is integrated into the biochemistry major.

- INTD 101 - University Seminar
- ENGL 101 - Writing I: The Writing Process
- ENGL 104 - Writing II: Research and Argumentative Essays
- HUM 101 - Humanities: Western Culture or HUM 301 - Cultures and Values
- one course in art, music, performance, or aesthetics
- one additional courses in English or in a foreign language
- one elective in English, the arts, aesthetics, foreign language, humanities,philosophy, or religion
- one course in American history or government
- two social science courses selected from economics,geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology
- one philosophy course
- two additional electives from the College of Arts and Sciences approved by the adviser
