Nursing, M.S.


The Maryville University Nursing Program offers a 41-47 credit hour program leading to the Master of Science in Nursing. The graduate program offers the following concentrations: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (on ground and on-line) , Family Nurse Practitioner (on ground and on-line), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (on ground and on-line), Pediatric (Primary Care) Nurse Practitioner (on-line only) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (on-line only).  In addition, the graduate program offers a post-Master’s certificate option in each of these concentrations.  Students in the certificate option will be advised on an individual basis regarding the required courses for their program.  The curriculum is designed to provide maximum flexibility for full or part-time study with classes in the evening or on-line. 

The baccalaureate degree in nursing, the master’s degree in nursing and the Doctor of Nursing Practice and the post-graduate ARPN certificate at Maryville University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, 202-887-6791.

Admission requirements include:

  • BSN from an ACEN/CCNE accredited program.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 point scale.

  • Current unencumbered RN license.

  • Three letters of recommendation.

  • Copy of curriculum vitae/resume.

  • A 500-word essay outlining the applicant’s reasons for pursuing a career as a nurse practitioner and plans to use the master’s education to affect patient outcomes..
