Gifted Education M.A.Ed.

|
This hands-on program with small class sizes is designed for teachers and program directors who already hold initial teaching certification. All coursework is offered after the regular school day or during the summer. The program is also available as fifth year bridge program for accepted Maryville undergraduates to begin pursuing in their senior years and complete in a fifth year over a summer, fall, and spring. The program provides students with an understanding of the unique needs of gifted students, curriculum and instruction to meet those needs, and the processes for developing appropriate programs and services for gifted students in both the context of the regular classroom as well as in special education programs. The program leads to K-12 gifted certification in the state of Missouri. Graduates are prepared to succeed in roles as teachers of the gifted and coordinators of gifted programs in local school districts. The M.A. degree requires 30 credit hours.
