Music Minor

While Maryville currently offers only a formal minor in music, a robust program of study also can be developed as a concentration within the major in the Liberal Studies Program.

This minor is designed for the student who has an interest in music, and would like to pursue musical study as a complement to his or her major field. Completion of the music minor entails a minimum of twenty-one (21) credit hours. Twelve (12) of these credits are connected to specific, required courses; the remaining nine (9) or more credits may be fulfilled by choosing elective music courses, as outlined below.

Elective Categories

(9 credits)

Elective music courses are available in three categories: Music Theory & Technology, Music History, and Music Performance. Music minors may choose elective courses within only one category or select courses from multiple categories. Students are recommended to consult with a music program advisor to develop a tailored plan.
