Healthcare Management, B.S.

The Healthcare Management Bachelor of Science Degree is designed to provide the student with a variety of courses to prepare for (or enhance) a career in healthcare management. The program offers students the opportunity to obtain a certificate in Senior Living Management. This is a fully asynchronous online program.

Program Requirements

  • A 2.5 grade point average must be maintained throughout the program.
  • Required major courses towards the Healthcare Management Program (HCM) Bachelor of Science degree must reflect a grade of C+ (2.5 GPA) or better in the student’s transcript.
  • Prior to participation in Practicum and Capstone courses, students must provide proof of health insurance and undergo background checks and a urine drug screen.

Health and Other Special Requirements

  • The following requirements must be met prior to participating in the practicum:
  • Physical Examination
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine Series or Declination
  • Annual Flu Vaccine
  • Health Insurance (copy of card required annually)
  • Urine Drug Screen (from the Maryville authorized lab)
  • Criminal Record Background checks from Maryville University’s authorized agency and signed release to clinical sites (possible checks include:  state criminal checks, disqualification lists, sex offender lists, social security number, address, and alias).
  • Any additional requirements that may arise

General Education Requirements for Healthcare Management

(48 credits)

Senior Living Management Certificate (Optional)

(18 credits)

The Senior Living Management certificate offers students an overview of the broad spectrum of senior living services. Students can choose a nursing home and/or assisted/senior living track. The certificate is designed for those who aspire to work in the senior living setting and want to gain an understanding of the many services available to provide housing and care for seniors. Course requirements include:

Graduation Requirements

  • 128 credit hours minimum (last 30 hours in residency)
  • A minimum half the major credit hours in residency
  • A minimum half the minor credit hours in residency
  • ​60 credit hours must be completed at a 4-year institution
