English/Elementary Education Bridge

Students seeking to apply their English knowledge in elementary school settings can apply for admission to the elementary education bridge program during the fall of their junior year. Students must meet all admission requirements including overall and English GPA. Students complete a program of combined coursework in English and education and then, during the fifth year, complete the requirements for a Master of Arts in Education and for certification to teach the elementary grades (1-6) in the Missouri public schools. Students are advised by an English adviser and an adviser in the School of Education. Students must fulfill the School of Education general education requirements listed in the School of Education section of this catalog.

Required Courses: English
In addition to the English classes included in the General Education requirements for Elementary Education, students must take the following English classes to complete a minimum of 27 upper division hours with half of this major completed at Maryville.
- Three 300-level English elective courses
Required Courses: Elementary Education
- One EDUC 600-level Graduate elective
