Biochemistry, B.S.


The Biochemistry program is rooted in interdisciplinary studies and learning opportunities that integrate Biology and Chemistry. The student who graduates with a biochemistry major will be prepared for graduate programs (M.S. and Ph.D.), medical and health professions programs, and a variety of career paths in the biotechnology sector, including the pharmaceutical sciences, bioanalytical sciences or any field that involves the investigation of biomolecules. Additional career paths include medicine, teaching, research, dentistry, veterinary sciences and agriculture. A minor in biology is integrated into the biochemistry major.

General Education Requirements:


  • one course in art, music, performance, or aesthetics
  • one additional coures in English or in a foreigh language
  • one elective in English, the arts, aesthetics, foreign language, humanioties,philosophy, or religion
  • one course in American history or government
  • two additional courses chosen from economics,geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology

Required Courses:
