The Master’s degree program in music therapy is designed to provide the professional music therapist with advanced clinical training supported by studies in research, theory and ethics. The curriculum focuses on the areas of music in psychotherapy and music in rehabilitation and medicine. Students will be exposed to treatment paradigms related to a broad range of clinical populations. Differing models of research will be presented and the opportunity for independent research projects will be provided. The emphasis at the graduate level will be on integration of those basic music therapy skills learned at the undergraduate level with more complex models and skills. Emphasis will also be placed on an understanding of clinical research models, teaching, and the ability to integrate professional and personal development. The program is offered as an evening program. Students may be full-time or part-time.
