New opportunities in schools have resulted in the TEACHER AS LEADER role that includes a continued commitment to best classroom practice but opens teachers to new roles working with their students, fellow teachers and communities. This 30-credit evening/summer program prepares practicing teachers to be masters of their practice, focused on improving student achievement through their classroom practices and their role within and beyond classrooms.
Courses taken may vary by concentration; see your adviser for specific requirements.
The remaining 12 credits are designed with the student’s adviser and may include the following courses or other graduate courses and may lead to one of the areas of concentration in early childhood education, middle level education or a customized course of study. Workshop course credits may be accepted upon approval of the adviser. In some instances, if a teaching certificate is desired, the program will be more than 30 hours.
