The Information Systems major prepares business professionals who have the ability to gain a competitive advantage for themselves and their organizations through the intelligent development and management of information technology. The major targets the knowledge worker of the future who must have a solid foundation in desktop and web-enabled application development and the ability to server as systems analyst or manager of larger client/server system development projects. Most importantly, the major prepares information analysts who can anticipate and evaluate emerging tools and find those that represent efficient and effective technologies for their organizations.

The Information Systems minor is designed for both business and non-business students to supplement their current major with an emphasis on computer applications that will help distinguish them in the job market as a graduate with better than average computer skills. The minor requires the choice of web-emphasis (FrontPage/Dreamweaver/Flash, Graphics, Scripting Languages, Application Integration) or applications emphasis (Excel, Access, Project, Visio, Visual Basic, .Net technologies, Application Integration)

Business Core Requirement


All majors in the School of Business must complete a business core of 33-36 credit hours.

Note:


All majors in the School of Business must take a minimum of MATH 117 College Algebra.

Information Systems Major Electives:


Choose any Three 3-credit hour courses from:

  • 300-level ISYS courses or
  • 150-level COSC courses.
