The Environmental Studies major is designed to provide students with an integrative approach to gain knowledge and skills in understanding how people interact with their environment. The underlying emphasis is the social sciences. While the student takes a limited selection of natural science courses, a broad base of human and natural history courses is required. A student who chooses this major may be interested in environmental public policy and the fact-based decisions that are critical to the development of local, regional or national national strategies to deal with environmental issues and concerns. This course of study includes an internship that allows the student to work and learn off-campus with a public or private facility in the environmental field.
