Organizational Leadership, B.A.


The Organizational Leadership degree blends communication, problem analysis, decision making, and strategic planning into a process-oriented educational progression. Courses which include organizational behavior, strategic leadership, group dynamics, ethics and sociology are taught by educators who understand and apply the modern concepts of a changing workplace in the classroom. The major goals for the program are to provide students with a working and conceptual understanding of organizational and group processes and with the skills necessary to funciton successfully in various organizational and group settings.

The major is both flexible and inclusive. It combines the liberal arts core, which may include transfer credits, the choice of one of many minors available, and a custom-designed emphasis within the major. Students’ knowledge and experience are drawn upon as coursework and experiential learning explore future trends and workplace realities to make education relevant for the 21st Century.

 

General Education:


  • One course in art, music, performance or aesthetics
  • One other course in English or in a foreign language
  • One other elective chosen from among the arts, aesthetics, foreign language, humanities, philosophy, and religion
  • One course in American history or government
  • One science course
  • One additional course in mathematics or science
  • Two courses approved by the adviser and selected from disciplines within the College of Arts and Sciences.

In addition to the above required courses, a concentration is required. A concentration in four upper division courses approved by adviser. This concentration is for all Organizational Leadership majors.
