COMM 241 - REPORTING & NEWS WRITING

Credits: Three
Prerequisite: COMM 141, ENGL 104 or permission of instructor
This course concentrates on reporting and news writing for print media, particularly newspapers and magazines. Special attention is given to note-taking, proper interview techniques, and the organization and formatting of textual material to meet deadlines. Students are also taught the correct ways to write, edit, and prepare copy for broadcast and online media, including radio, TV, and the Internet.
Note: The accelerated Weekend and Evening College format of this course will be augmented by a faculty-prescribed one-credit independent learning experience.
