COMM 322 - COMMUNICATION LAW AND ETHICS


Credits: Three
Prerequisite: COMM 121 or permission of the instructor
This course surveys the laws pertaining to, and the ethical conduct expected of, professionals engaged in communication occupations. Course content includes studying Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations; communication and free-speech opportunities and limitations afforded by the U.S. Constitution; and current legal and ethical issues applicable to the mass media.
Note: The accelerated Weekend and Evening College format of this course will be augmented by a faculty-prescribed one-credit independent learning experience.
