NURS 400 - Nursing Care of Children

This course provides nursing students with a comprehensive understanding of pediatric nursing care, focusing on the unique needs of children and their families. Students will apply principles of growth, development, and pathophysiology to analyze pediatric health concerns and develop evidence-based care strategies. The course emphasizes the development of professional and therapeutic communication skills, including the use of information technologies, to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and interprofessional teams. Students will evaluate ethical and legal considerations in pediatric nursing care to enhance clinical judgment and decision-making skills. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to provide safe, high-quality, and developmentally appropriate care to pediatric patients in diverse healthcare settings.
