Rooted in the study of the liberal arts, Maryville’s program in the Humanities offers both depth and breadth of understanding. Students wishing to explore the world and the insights of great minds may choose from courses in English, philosophy, religious studies, languages, and music history. In these courses, students discover the past, reflect on the present, and imagine future possibilities.
The humanities also enhance critical thinking and communication skills as students consider complex issues and share their insights.
Many employers are choosing to hire graduates with a broad liberal arts background because they believe a liberally educated person is going to be a versatile and well-rounded employee. For those interested in graduate education, studies in humanities provide excellent preparation for a wide range of fields.
