The Nursing program has three pre-licensure options. One option is designed to admit traditional age students as freshmen. A second option is the Weekend and Evening college option (see below). The Fast Track option is primarily designed for transfer students who have completed 65 credits of liberal arts and science coursework (see below). In addition, the nursing program has an option for those individuals who already are licensed nurses who wish to complete the BSN. Each option accepts students for the fall semester each year. RN students are accepted each term; procedure for admission is available from the Nursing Office. Transfer students may apply at any time; admission is dependent upon compliance with admission requirements and available space in the courses needed by the student.
The Maryville Nursing program is approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. In addition to providing academic preparation for entry into professional nursing practice through licensure, the Maryville Nursing program also provides the student with the foundation for graduate study. The nursing curriculum prepares students to provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative professional nursing care to individuals of all ages, to families, and to the community. The curriculum meets the needs of beginning students and of students holding RN or LPN licensure.
The program can be completed on a full- or part-time basis through the day program or through Weekend and Evening College. Clinical activities are held during the day and evening and on weekends. Students must furnish their own transportation to and from clinical sites.
For certain courses, laboratory, examination and malpractice insurance fees are assessed.
