Biochemistry, B.S.

The Biochemistry program is rooted in interdisciplinary studies and learning opportunities that integrate Biology and Chemistry. The student who graduates with a biochemistry major will be prepared for graduate programs (M.S. and Ph.D.), medical and health professions programs, and a variety of career paths in the biotechnology sector, including the pharmaceutical sciences, bioanalytical sciences or any field that involves the investigation of biomolecules. Additional career paths include medicine, teaching, research, dentistry, veterinary sciences and agriculture. A minor in biology is integrated into the biochemistry major.

  • Humanities electives 6
    (2 courses)
  • One Elective
    (ENGL, Arts/Aesthetics, Foreign Language, HUM, PHIL, REL)
  • American History/Government
  • Social Science Electives- 2 courses selected from 2 of the following disciplines
    (ECON, GEOG, HIST, PSCI, PSYC, SOC)
  • General Education Electives 6
    (2 courses)
  • 2 courses selected from disciplines within the College of Arts & Sciences
    (in consultation with the academic adviser)
