Gifted Education M.A.Ed.

This hands-on program is offered when site-based cohorts of 8 or more educators enroll. It is designed for teachers and program directors who already hold initial teaching certification. All coursework is offered after the regular school day and during the summer. The program helps educators learn to identify gifts and talents across populations, domains, and from varying perspectives. Participants develop an understanding of the unique needs of gifted and talented students, curriculum and instruction to meet those needs, and the processes for developing and evaluating appropriate programs and services for gifted students in both the context of the regular classroom as well as in gifted education programs. The program leads to K-12 gifted certification in the state of Missouri. Graduates are prepared to succeed in roles as teachers of the gifted and coordinators of gifted programs. The MA degree requires 30 credit hours.
