The Master of Arts with a major in Strategic Communication & Leadership combines public relations, advertising, and marketing communications into a cohesive organization-wide communication function. This combination creates one organizational voice that speaks to individual groups and their concerns, while adhering to the organization’s overall business and strategic plans that affect all parts of the organization. This program prepares individuals for public relations, advertising, and marketing communications senior-level positions in corporate, government, not-for-profit, and community organizations. This program welcomes professionals in the field as well as undergraduate students seeking further education. Advanced undergraduate students may also be eligible for the bridge program that allows them to earn master’s credit for advanced undergraduate senior-level classes.
The 36-hour master’s curriculum can be completed either full- or part-time. Students work with their assigned Communication professor-mentor throughout their study to plan classes and projects. Other features of the program include:
- Emphasis on applying strategic communication research and knowledge to professional work
- All professors have professional experience as well as academic credentials
- Students complete an online comprehensive exam course as the culminating experience in the program
