This program is designed for practicing teachers with a minimum of one year of experience. The experiences will include working with special needs children within a school setting as well as the regular classroom. The use of the word literacy is intentional. It indicates the program’s commitment to a comprehensive and balanced approach to literacy. Classroom teachers will be prepared to work as reading specialists and manage the literacy program for their work as well as that of classroom teachers in their building.
NOTE: This program is also available as a bridge program, which allows accepted Maryville undergraduate students to begin pursuing their graduate degree during their senior year, completing their Master’s degree during a fifth academic year (includes summer semester)
