The Engineering Dual Degree program is a joint degree program of Maryville University with the McKelvey School of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Washington University and Missouri University of Science and Technology. The areas of study for the bachelor’s degree in engineering with Washington University in this program are:
- Biomedical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Systems Science and Engineering
Students in this program will spend the first three years at Maryville acquiring a firm foundation in chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, and biology, as well as a broad background in the humanities and social sciences. A GPA of 3.25 or better, both overall and in mathematics and science courses, and a letter of recommendation from the pre-engineering advisor is normally required. Students then continue with three years of study at Washington University. In the three years at Washington University, students earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering in one of the areas listed above and a master’s degree in one of the engineering master’s programs offered by them such as:
- Biomedical Engineering
- Computer Science & Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Construction Management
- Electrical Engineering
- Imaging Science
- Systems Science & Mathematics
- Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Materials Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Cybersecurity Engineering
- Information Systems Management
- Engineering Management
- Engineering Data Analytics & Statistics
Alternatively, after three years at Maryville University, students may transition to Missouri University of Science and Technology to complete their engineering education. An additional two to three years of coursework, depending on which engineering program, is required.
The dual degree study is an attractive alternative to traditional engineering curricula. Generally, the introductory classes are substantially smaller at Maryville than at either of our partner institutions. Students have the opportunity to use the supportive, personalized environment at Maryville to develop the skills and confidence needed for success in engineering. Students earn a Science, B.S. from Maryville upon completion of degree requirements and either a B.S. in engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology or both a B.S. and an M.S. in engineering from Washington University.
