Business has moved from the local, regional and national level to a global economy as every major corporation seeks to have a worldwide presence.  Business leaders today believe it is important that managers have a global perspective.  The international business major is designed to meet this ever expanding need by the business community.  This major builds on the School’s strong existing business core to provide students with expertise in a wide variety of areas that will enhance their ability to have successful careers in a multi-national environment that knows no geographic, cultural or regional boundaries.

Students are prepared for leadership roles in organizations engaged in international commerce through a variety of required and elective courses.  There is a foreign language requirement that insures student proficiency in one foreign language used in international commerce.  A study-abroad component provides the student with exposure to another culture and lets them experience first hand how businesses operate in other countries.  The study-abroad experience is flexible and is structured to the student’s needs and could be fulfilled by short international trips, longer international classes, full semester study-abroad opportunities or internships with international companies.  Technology and communication skills are integrated throughout the program and students are prepared to do business electronically with remote partners and customers.
