The undergraduate program in psychology with a concentration in rehabilitation prepares students for a career in human services with a specialty in working with individuals with disability, including those with physical, psychiatric, developmental, visual or hearing, traumatic brain injury and substance abuse disabilities. It also provides the necessary foundation for further graduate study in psychology and/or rehabilitation.

The Maryville undergraduate concentration will allow a bridge to the graduate M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling program, therefore offering an opportunity for early access to graduate studies (see the graduate program in Rehabilitation Counseling within the School of Health Professions).

Students deciding to work in human services at the completion of their undergraduate studies will be prepared to work in a variety of social service and rehabilitation agencies/organizations as well as independent living centers. Students in this field become case managers, allowing them to assist individuals with disability to live as independently as possible within the community and to work in jobs appropriate to their interests and abilities.

For more information regarding this program, contact a professor within the Psychology program or the Director of Rehabilitation Counseling at 314.529.9625.

Please Note:

* These courses may be taken with approval of undergraduate adviser and director of Rehabilitation Counseling program.
