Sociology B.A.

The Sociology curriculum provides students with an understanding of the guiding sociological principles that influence  human relationships in a complex society. The sociology program emphasizes applied, career-related experiences and an understanding of the pressing social issues and concerns of modern society. The curriculum is further molded by a desire to foster social awareness and a strong sense of civic and community responsibility. A minor is required for the B.A. in Sociology.

Humanities:


  • Fine Arts (1 course) FPAR, ADSA, MUS, ADAH
  • Literature/Language (1 course)
  • Philosophy (1 course)
  • Electives (2 courses) ADAH, ADSA, ENGL, SPAR, HUM, MUS, PHIL, REL, SPAN

Social Science


(2 courses)

  • American History/Political Science (1 course) HIST 121, 122, 131, 132 or PSCI 101 recommended
  • Elective (1 course) CRIM, HIST, PSCI< PSYC, or SOC

Natural Science/Quantitative Reasoning:


(2 courses)

  • Science Course: (BIOL, CHEM, ENV, PHYS, SCI) BIOL 117 recommended
  • Additional MATH (Higher than MATH 115) or Science Coures
