International Baccalaureate (IB) Equivalencies

Students who have completed IB coursework are awarded credit based on scores on the exams.  Students who submit a score of 5 or higher on IB Standard Level (SL) or Higher-Level (HL) exams will usually receive 3 credits by exam. Some programs such as Design and Visual Art use a portfolio or other methods to determine the awarding of credit for students in their programs. An original grade report must be sent from IB directly to Maryville’s Student Service Center in order for a student to receive credit for exams.

Maryville University recognizes all the work that goes into taking an International Baccalaureate (IB) course and pursuing an IB diploma.  Even though the IBO announced the cancellation of May 2020 exams, we will continue to offer credit for courses taken through the IB program.  IB will be awarding students a grade for each of their registered subjects on the normal 1-7 scale, using a calculation that takes into account their coursework grades and their predicted grades.  Based on the calculated grades that the IB will provide, Maryville will continue to award academic credit for strong performance on all Higher Level and Standard Level exams.  Please review the International Baccalaureate Equivalencies Chart below for information on specific credit awards.
