REHB 220 - Medical Aspects of Disability Credits: Three (3) This course will focus primarily on the medical aspects of physical, sensory, and developmental disabilities and some psychosocial aspects including reaction, adjustment, and adaptation to having a disability. The purpose of this course is designed to assist students in developing working knowledge of medical aspects of disability. A rehabilitation service provider does not require in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. However, in order to provide effective treatment services, rehabilitation service providers must be able to understand medical terminology, the short and long term implications of disability including the functional limitations/abilities and how to communicate effectively about these issues with the person with a disability and a broad array of medical, allied health, vocational, and employment professionals.
