PSCI 345 - Urban Politics

This course offers an interdisciplinary overview of the relationship between local politics, urban development, and policy. This course explores how classic urban theory has been applied to recent trends in urban development and politics in America. In this course we will explore the complexities associated with the success and failures of urban renewal and development. Additionally, the course will examine the role of race, income, and education in changing patterns in the development of American cities. Special attention is given to public opinion, fear, race, class, media, Elite theory, and cost and benefit analysis.
