PSCI 335 - Mass Media, Politics, and Fear Credits: 3 This class offers an interdisciplinary overview of the relationship between mass media, public perceptions, and American politics. This course explores how the media influences public perceptions about politics and social issues. Often these perceptions turn into fear and have a great impact on political participation and social change. Additionally, the course will explore the unique relationship between the media and individuals from underrepresented populations. Special attention is given to mass media theories, stereotypes, accountability, technology, cultural significance, and politics. General Education Area: Social Science Cross-listed: COMM-335
