PSCI 313 - Conspiracy Theories and Politics


Credits: Three (3)
This course examines the role of Conspiracy Theories in American society. We will explore how Conspiracy Theories are developed, as well as the attitudes and behaviors that occur as a result of their existence. The course will investigate political trust and why it is important in a democratic system. Students will have the opportunity to expand their media literacy and explore the various perspectives dominating many popular Conspiracy Theories. Students will also be given the opportunity to investigate a social or political Conspiracy Theory that is not covered in the course materials. This course is designed to improve critical thinking, expand scholarly research skills, and encourage political and social discourse.
