EDUC 335 - Health of the Child
Credits: 3
This course is designed to provide elementary and elementary/early childhood education candidates with best practices in teaching health in schools. This course focuses on examining the national, state, and local standards, including how to integrate these standards into the classroom to promote well-being for all students. Additional focus areas are all domains of health (physical, emotional, social, cognitive, spiritual) for both students and teachers, as well as childhood illnesses, disease, and disabilities and their impact on student learning. The teacher’s role and responsibility as part of the public health system is investigated. Emphasis is placed on implementing teacher and student wellness practices. This course, taken at the graduate level, requires additional readings and assignments.
