SPLP 630 - Special Populations in Speech Language Pathology: Autism, Cleft Lip/Palate & Craniofacial Anomalies

Special Populations in Communication Disorders is designed to present information regarding less prevalent disorders in speech-language pathology. These disorders include cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies. This course will also introduce and discuss autism from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective. Material covered will include etiologies & characteristics, evaluation instruments and procedures, characteristics, interpreting, integrating, and synthesizing test results, history, and other behavioral observations to develop diagnoses, completing administrative and reporting functions necessary to support evaluation, referring individuals to appropriate service providers, interprofessional collaboration, evidence based practice techniques, and current trends within the field of speech-language pathology and medicine.
Prerequisite: SPLP-510, SPLP-520, SPLP-550, and SPLP-560
