HCPM 490 - Healthcare Professional Leadership
Credits: 3
This is a 16-week course designed for Healthcare Management students who are eligible to participate in the 50-hour practicum AND for students in the General Studies with Concentration in Healthcare Program who are entering their final term in the program at Maryville University. All students will explore their personal/professional growth through reflection, guided activities, and class discussions. During the second 8 weeks, students will gain an understanding of the relevancy of previous coursework and how it applies to their respective careers in healthcare.
- Healthcare Management Students will participate in a 50-hour practicum at a pre-approved site over a period of 7 weeks, resulting in a final paper and presentation.
- General Studies with a Concentration Healthcare Students will be required to complete a comprehensive capstone project (including but not limited to a paper and presentation, personal leadership and development plan, etc.) linking the student’s chosen area of concentration with career and intellectual interests.
Prerequisite: Healthcare Management students must have completed all HCPM major courses and be within the last 12 hours of the program.
General Studies-Healthcare students must be within last 12 hours of the program.
