OCTH 613 - Best Practices in OT


Credits: 3
This course will focus on best practice for occupational therapy practice. Small groups of students will work closely with a faculty facilitator in a problem-based learning approach to develop clinical reasoning, teamwork, and professional communication skills. Cases will allow participants to explore all aspects of occupational therapy domain (occupations, client factors, performance skills, performance patterns, and contexts & environments) and process (evaluation, intervention and targeting outcomes). Case studies across the life span will require students to apply a variety of frames of reference to the OT process. Students will be encouraged to explore and evaluate their knowledge and attitudes relative to a variety of clinical and social issues. An emphasis on independent, lifelong learning and generating solutions to complex problems will be evident throughout the course.
