The Master of Health Administration (MHA) program provides students with the opportunity to participate in professional education necessary to become competent and committed health care leaders by focusing on competencies specific to health administration.  MHA courses are designed around the “Core Competencies for Health Administration” addressed by organizations such as the National Center on Healthcare Leadership and the American College of  Healthcare Executives  (ACHE).  The Program requires 36 graduate credit hours and is available in an online format only.   Students may receive a general MHA degree or a MHA degree with a concentration in one of four (4) areas:  Healthcare Strategies, Data Management, Senior Services or Population Management.  

Grade Requirements

Students must complete a minimum of 36 credit hours for the MHA degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and no more than two grades of “C”.  Students who receive a third grade of ‘C’ or receive a grade of ‘C-‘,’D’, ‘F’, ‘WF’ or ‘AF’ will automatically be dropped from the program the semester in which the grade is received.

At the end of each session, a student with a GPA below a 3.00 will receive a letter to that effect.  If the GPA stays below a 3.00 for two consecutive sessions, the student will be dropped from the program.

To be considered for re-admission to the Master of Health Administration program, the student must submit a letter of appeal to the Health Administration Admissions Committee providing the Committee with documentation that the deficiencies have been remedied. If the student has been out for three consecutive semesters, he/she must also submit an updated application for admission. If the student is re-admitted, all previous course work will be counted toward the degree if it meets the Five Year Policy. The student will also be subject to all policies and procedures in effect at the time the student is re-admitted to the Master of Health Administration Program. Students who are re-admitted after appealing a dismissal who receive another failing grade will be dismissed from the program and cannot appeal a second time.

Final Assessment

All MHA students will be required to take final self- assessment during their last four weeks of the program in order to be considered for graduation. The assessment is pass/fail and will focus on a high level of understanding of the student learning outcomes and competencies addressed in the program curriculum. 

Graduation

Degree candidates must complete an application for graduation prior to the final semester that the degree will be completed. All graduate degree requirements must be completed in order to be eligible for participation in the commencement ceremony. Apply for graduation through your student portal.
