Post-Master’s DNP

The online post-master’s DNP program has been designed for certified advanced practice nurses to be experts in specialized advanced nursing practice (AACN, 2006). The program is comprised of 33 credits over five semesters. Additional content beyond the MSN includes: systems thinking; patient safety and quality; ethics in advanced nursing practice; health policy aimed at patient advocacy; and the completion of a scholarly project that uses evidence-based practice.

BSN-DNP PROGRAM


This program is designed for students with a BSN who desire to pursue a DNP degree with concentrations in the following five areas:

  • Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

  • Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)

  • Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (PPCNP)

  •  Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

The BSN-DNP program is comprised of 68 to 74 credits depending on the nurse practitioner concentration the student wishes to pursue. Graduates will be eligible to take the certification examination for their respective specialty. In addition to MSN core courses and nurse practitioner core and specialty courses, the students will take courses that include the following content: systems thinking; patient safety and quality; ethics in advanced nursing practice; health policy aimed at patient advocacy; and the completion of a scholarly project that uses evidence-based practice.  A typical progression plan is found below, although students work closely with their advisor to plan course progression.

Semester 3:   NURS 709, 603 and 703

Semester 4:   NURS 704 and NURS 708

Semester 5:   NURS 610 and NURS 702

Semester 6:   NURS 611 and NURS 615

Semester 7:   NURS 612  and NURS 650 (for PPCNP) NURS 660 (PMHNP)

Semester 8:   NURS 620/621 (AGPCNP) or NURS 640/641 (AGACNP) or  NURS 651/652 (PPCNP) or NURS 661/NURS 662 (PMHNP)

Semester 9:   NURS 623/624 (AGPCNP) or NURS 642/643 (AGACNP) or  NURS 653/654 (PPCNP) or NURS 663/664 (PMHNP)

Semester 10: NURS 629/630 (FNP) or NURS 644/645 (AGACNP) or NURS 705 (AGPCNP and PPCNP) or NURS 665/67 (PMHNP)

Semester 11: NURS 705 (FNP and AGACNP) OR NURS 706 and NURS 707 (ACPCNP and PPCNP)

Semester 12: NURS 706 and NURS 707 (FNP and AGACNP)
