This program is open to qualified Maryville seniors majoring in the Sociology or the Psychology/Sociology - double major. Seniors may take up to 12 credit hours of designated graduate courses in Saint Louis University’s (SLU) Master of Social Work program, pending conditional probationary admission by SLU. These hours apply toward the fulfillment of Maryville’s requirements for the bachelor’s degree as sociology credits or general electives and will also apply toward SLU’s MSW program as long as:
- Grades of “B” or better are earned in all courses
- All degree requirements are met to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Maryville
- All requirements for full admission to SLU’s MSW program are met.
To be eligible for participation, students are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA within the major of 3.2. Additionally, students are required to have completed and earned at least a B in each of the following courses: SOC 250 Introduction to Social Work; PSYC/SOC 341 Understanding Statistical Inference and PSYC 342 Research Methods prior to spring semester of the junior year.
Interested students must work closely with their academic advisor to ensure all deadlines are met, including those for admission to SLU and working with Maryville’s financial aid office. As a general guideline, the entire process must be complete prior to February 1 for Fall admission. Please contact the Assistant Dean of Social Sciences for further information.
