The Bascom Honors Program is the university-wide honors program that is open to all majors at Maryville. The program engages high-achieving students in discussion-based seminars focused on inquiry into unique topics with select faculty. Students who complete the Bascom Honors Program receive special academic recognition on their transcript and at commencement.
Bascom Honors coursework typically applies towards a student’s general education requirements. Students majoring in degrees in the College of Arts and Sciences fulfill their total general education requirements by completing the Bascom Honors Program. Students majoring in degrees in other Colleges and Schools at Maryville use individual honors seminars as individual course replacements in their specific general education requirements.
Program Eligibility
First year students entering Maryville with a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 and above are invited to apply to the Bascom Honors Program. Other Maryville students may apply internally if they have GPAs of 3.5 or higher. Transfer students with at least 60 credits to complete and a GPA of 3.5 may also apply to join the program. Students majoring in any department of the University can participate in the Bascom Honors Program.
