The Actuarial Science Program at Maryville University is an accredited Advanced Curriculum Actuarial Program of the Society of Actuaries (UCAP-AC).

Maryville University’s undergraduate actuarial science program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines liberal arts education with focused studies in business, data science, AI and mathematics. This program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Actuarial Science. Maryville University stands out as one of the select few colleges nationwide to provide such a comprehensive degree program in Actuarial Science. The program’s coursework and internship opportunities are carefully designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pass the exams administered by the Society of Actuaries. Completion of one of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams is a requirement for the Actuarial Science major.

Prospective applicants should possess a strong foundation in mathematics and demonstrate an interest in the realms of business, risk management, and technology.

Actuarial Science as a Career

Actuarial science is widely regarded as a top-ranking career choice when evaluated across various criteria, including work environment, income, stress level, job security, physical demands, and employment prospects. Actuaries primarily find employment in insurance companies, consulting firms, government agencies at the federal and state levels, corporations, and academic institutions.

Accelerated Master of Science in Actuarial Science, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence

The Accelerated Master of Science in Actuarial Science, Data Science and AI provides a unique opportunity for Maryville University undergraduates majoring in actuarial science to earn their master’s degree in just one additional year. Through this accelerated option, students can apply four courses (12 credits) taken during their senior year as part of their undergraduate curriculum towards their master’s degree requirements. In the fifth year of study, students will complete an additional 24 credits to fulfill the remaining requirements for the master’s degree.
