Science, B.S.


The Science program enables students to participate in quantitative and scientific decisions that influence the quality of contemporary life. The major requires students to take courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics to insure a breadth of exposure, while at the same time requiring a concentration in one of these areas at the upper-division level. A minor is required.

General Education Requirements:

  • American History or Political Science elective
  • Two Social Science electives from different disciplines

CAS General Education Requirements

  • Completion of a minor outside of the sciences:
  • An Individualized plan of study drawn up by the student in consultation with their adviser. The rationale for the concentration must be clearly articulated. Courses selected should be upper-division courses. The plan must be filed no later than the beginning of the junior year and must be approved by the student’s adviser and the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The self-designed plan allows the student to take courses in areas that naturally complement each other. (20 credit hours)

 

Graduation Requirements


  • 128 credit hours minimum (last 30 hours in residency)
  • A minimum half the major credit hours in residency
  • A minimum half the minor credit hours in residency
  • ​60 credit hours must be completed at a 4-year institution
