Healthcare Management, B.S.

The Healthcare Management Bachelor of Science Degree is designed to provide the student with a variety of courses to prepare for (or enhance) a career in healthcare management. The program offers students the opportunity to obtain a  Senior Living Management Certificate 

There are two paths of completion offered to students:

  • On-Ground/Hybrid Program includes both 16-week on-ground courses and 8-week asynchronous online courses.  Students must take all general education courses (48 credits) on ground.  All healthcare management major courses (42 credits) must be taken online; elective courses may be taken online or on-ground.
  • Online Program:  100% online asynchronous (8-week) courses, including fourteen (14) major courses (42 credit hours).  

Program Requirements

  • A 2.5 grade point average must be maintained throughout the program.
  • Required major courses towards the Healthcare Management Program (HCM) Bachelor of Science degree must reflect a grade of C+ (2.5 GPA) or better in the student’s transcript.

Health and Other Special Requirements

The following requirements must be met prior to participating in the practicum:

  • Proof of Health Insurance 
  • Evidence of HIPAA and OSHA training (provided by Maryville University)
  • The Practicum site may have other requirements, including but not limited to proof of a physical exam within the last year.

General Education Requirements for Healthcare Management


(48 credits)

Graduation Requirements


  • 128 credit hours minimum (last 30 hours in residency)
  • A minimum half the major credit hours in residency
  • A minimum half the minor credit hours in residency
  • ​60 credit hours must be completed at a 4-year institution
