EDUC 531 - Reading Methods I Credits: 3 This course is designed to help elementary and elementary/early childhood education candidates understand best practices in reading education. The focus is on the local, state & national standards, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Additional focus areas include instructional strategies appropriate for teaching reading, assessment, and differentiation, including for English learners. Emphasis is placed on examining current trends and their application in a balanced approach to literacy and student achievement.
