EDUC 572 - Emergent Mathematics Credits: 3 This course is designed to help early childhood candidates understand young children’s development of mathematical knowledge. The course focuses on developing an understanding of instructional strategies for supporting children from birth through second grade, including Piaget’s theory, Constructivist theory, Number Talks, related research, assessment, and the practical application of these concepts. Another focus is placed on learning through play. This course will meet off Maryville University Campus for approximately half of the class sessions.
