EDUC 574 - Language Arts Methods Credits: 3 The course is designed to help elementary and elementary/early childhood education candidates understand research-based practices for teaching the six language arts: reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and visual representation. The focus is on local, state, and national standards, including writing skills, phonics, spelling, writing process, writing genres, and literature. An additional focus is the use of technology in teaching language arts. Emphasis is placed on strategies used to meet the needs of English learners.
